When Hampshire Cultural Trust took guardianship of a collection of Winchester’s most significant heritage venues, they needed a modern, unified brand that could bring clarity, consistency and commercial strength across multiple destinations. Central to this was positioning The Great Hall as the flagship location and home of King Arthur’s legendary Round Table, one of the most iconic cultural artefacts in the country. We created a brand identity that respected centuries of history while supporting a new, forward-looking strategy focused on tourism growth, community engagement and increased footfall across sites, including Winchester City Museum and the Westgate Museum.

Our aim was to develop an identity that celebrated Winchester’s heritage in a cohesive way, made the experience more accessible to families and visitors, and established a solid foundation for long-term digital growth.

Where History and Legends Meet

We created a visual identity system that unified all venues under one structured brand architecture. Each location received its own emblem but shared a consistent typographic and layout framework, allowing the trust to communicate with far more clarity and professionalism across touchpoints. The core colour palette was drawn from the Round Table itself, lending authenticity and a sense of continuity between the medieval history and the modern visitor offering. Premium serif and sans-serif combinations created a tone that feels elevated yet welcoming, blending heritage with contemporary design.

Digital Experience and Spektrix Integration

The website became the centrepiece of the identity. We created a consolidated digital platform that brought all Winchester heritage venues under one roof, with a seamless user journey designed for both discovery and conversion. Visitors can explore individual venues, learn about their history and book tickets with ease. A streamlined booking process using a Spectrix ticketing system supports both single-venue tickets and bundled passes, helping Hampshire Cultural Trust increase batch ticket sales and drive footfall to venues that traditionally saw lower visitor numbers.

The site is built on a scalable, modular WordPress system designed for long-term growth, improved performance, accessibility and mobile responsiveness. The navigation was redesigned from the ground up to support the breadth of content, and the visual design incorporates subtle historical motifs without compromising usability.

Expanding the Identity

Beyond the digital platform, we produced a wide range of marketing and experiential materials to support the refresh. This included signage across the venue estate, printed visitor materials, seasonal campaign artwork, merchandise, posters and sub-branding for events. We also directed and produced several film shoots to create video content for the website and social channels. Every output was designed to elevate the visitor experience and reinforce the brand’s new commercial ambitions.

End Result

The result is a confident, cohesive identity that celebrates Winchester’s extraordinary heritage in a way that feels modern, accessible and commercially effective. It gives Hampshire Cultural Trust a powerful foundation to grow, while giving visitors a far richer and more intuitive experience of the city’s most treasured sites.
